Station Snapshot – W1MSG

Welcome to another edition of Station Snapshot. This time we will be visiting Craig (W1MSG) in Massachusetts. Craig is a self-described “avid Windows user for years” who has come just come over to the Mac platform and says “there is no looking back.”

Craig writes, “I am currently using MacLoggerDXMacDoppler, and Fldigi on a Late 2012 Mac Mini I7 running Yosemite. I have already done a few modifications and upgrades to the Mini, including adding a second HD kit and I set up the original 1TB HDD with a 256GB SSD drive as a Fusion Drive. I also added the max 16GB of memory as well. I have found that running Windows 7 Pro in a VMWare box will run everything I need Windows for without an issue.”

“My Shack consists of an Icom IC-9100, Commander HF-2500 Amp, a Palstar AT2KD Tuner, and a 250+ foot Horizontal Loop antenna for HF. Satellite gear consists of a 30’ tower, Yaesu G-5400B AZ/EL rotor, AR2 Mast-mounted preamps with a 2m cross-polarized beam and a 15-element 70cm beam. I have other bits and pieces including a Wavenode and a W2IHY 8 band EQ. I use the Heil PR40 mic for everything with great results.”
